The rigorous Chain Lakes Loop in Washington State is a riveting adventure through the heart of the Mt. Baker Wilderness. The considerable snowfall during the winter requires hikers to have poles and winter hiking shoes (with microspikes). The favorable time to go would be anytime starting from June to November. The closest town to the trail is the town of Glacier. To reach the Chain Lakes Loop from Glacier, Washington, drive east on Mount Baker Highway (SR 542) for about 24 miles until you reach the Artist Point parking area, where the highway ends. The trailhead for the Chain Lakes Loop is located at this parking area. Leashed doggy companions are welcome to tag along. You will need a Northwest Forest Pass to enter.
